PVYFCA Cheer is getting ready for an exciting 2011 Season!
CHEER PROGRAMPVYFCA would like to welcome our new Director of Cheer, LaRinda Sterling!
This Cheer program is all about physical fitness, teamwork and interacting with the crowd and football teams. And this cheer program is all about fun! As a part of this cheer program, girls ranging in age from 4 years to 14 years (girls age 4 are cheering as a “mascot” and will not be eligible to compete) will learn the following:
- Disciplines of Cheer and Dance
- Responsibility and accountability
- How to deal with different personalities and people
- How to overcome differences for the good of their squad
- Poise, confidence, and how to present themselves positively
- Valuable life lessons through their cheerleading experiences that will prepare them for adult life.
PVYFCA Cheer looks forward to the opportunity of working with the young ladies of this community, and helping these young ladies learn these valuable life lessons that will hopefully help them to move into young adulthood with tools that will make them positive, caring and productive adults!

PRACTICEFor 2011 Practice times and location please see the home page
Cheerleading is a sport! If it wasn’t, it wouldn’t be on ESPN! And because it is a sport, it requires conditioning. For the first two weeks of practice, the girls will be going through a “mini cheer camp,” Monday through Friday, run by the PVYFCA Director of Cheer and all of our wonderful volunteer cheer coaches. During the camp we will be focusing on learning proper technique for jumps, arm motions, cheers and chants, stunting and cheer dance. We will also be working on team building activities within the individual cheer squads.
After the “camp,” practices will go to two a week on Tuesday and Thursday nights. GAMESAll games are held on Saturdays. As we are part of Northern Arizona Youth Football (NAYF), there are traveling games to other Northern Arizona communities. All efforts are made, when scheduling, to keep traveling games to a minimum. The other communities involved with NAYF are Chino Valley, Bagdad, Big Bug (Dewey-Humboldt), Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Sedona, Williams, Flagstaff and Prescott, Wickenburg and Page.
Home games will be held at the Bradshaw Mountain High School (Field Locations) football field. Games run approximately two hours long and all participants are required to arrive an hour before their scheduled game time in order to warm up. The game start times will be anywhere between 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. We may have some night games scheduled so the participants can play under the lights. REGISTRATIONAges: 4-14 (4 year olds are considered "mascots" and not covered by league insurance.) Cost: $100.00 Included: uniform (participant keeps), poms (participant keeps)
Your child must have a "Fit to Play" physical and a certified and legible copy of their birth certificate to the Cheer Secretary (Hope Randal) or your child WILL NOT be able to participate for the ENTIRE season if these documents are not received by August 17, 2011.
Every attempt is made to showcase the talent of each cheerleader and teach good sportsmanship and teamwork. Cheerleaders are always in the public eye whether they are in uniform or not. They are representatives of PVYFCA. They need have positive attitudes and be well mannered. The Director of Cheer requests that the parents of each cheerleader be equally responsible and conduct themselves in a respectful manner at each practice, game or PVYFCA activity. NO CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL OR DRUGS, USE OF FOUL LANGUAGE OR OTHER INAPPROPRIATE CONDUCT WILL BE TOLERATED.
We Need CHEER COACHES
We always need cheer coaches, so if you are interested please fill out a cheer coaches’ application and mail it to the address printed on the application. A mandatory coaches clinic will be held with the places, dates, and times TBA. Failure to participate in one of these clinics will result in suspension from participation in the first two games of the season.
